Tharwat Al-Qaisi

A native of Jordan, Tharwat started teaching tennis when he was 17 at his brother's academy in Amman. He coached there from 1997 to 2013, and has recently moved to Dubai to work in the ACE Tennis Academy at the Al-Wasl Sports Club as a head coach.

After familiarizing himself with USPTA exam materials he wasn't really convinced by the conventional data with which teaching tennis is described therein, so he decided to wait for a better methodology to persuade him. That happened in 2007 when Tharwat and his brother introduced The Wegner Method to some 250 students in Jordan. As coaches, they tested it on themselves first, and as Tharwat describes it, "from the first few minutes I noticed the difference. Later on, and before teaching the Windshield Wiper finish, I tested it on myself for more than 2 hours, at that time, I found out why professional players -like Federer- execute amazing shots, and it changed my tennis big time. So I decided to make Wegner's method my main and only way of teaching tennis, and I started to see the players becoming much better with shorter time, I even had one of the greatest lessons I have ever given when I started with an adult German girl who never held a racket before, she managed to stroke the ball on the forehand and the backhand with perfect basic form from the baseline with me for 75 shots in a row in just 45 minutes!"
