Manwell Haumu

Of Maori heritage, Manwell was born in Matamata, Waikato, New Zealand which is also known as "Hobbiton", the place of the shire from the Lord of the Ring & Hobbit trilogies.

Manwell first picked up a racket at the age of 11 and played until he was 18 years of age. Due to a family tragedy just before heading to an annual Maori tournament, he did not play again for 10 years. Manwell then travelled to England where he took conventional lessons and competed with varying success.

Out of the blue a light turned on about coaching tennis. Manwell had been in the coaching game since the age of 21 in basketball and rugby, but when a cousin recently asked him if he would be interested in coaching her son he realized the timing was uncanny, as he had begun to feel the urge to pursue becoming a qualified tennis coach. Manwell purchased "Play Better Tennis in 2 Hours" and his reaction was, "BAM! A revelation of the simplest kind! Listening to the way the words and the sentences flowed off the page to "Find it" compelling me to understand, to "Feel it" reaching into the depths of simplicity and to "Finish it" knowing it is the real deal, and watching the videos explaining how simple it is to implement and enjoy and how simple tennis can be, was spectacular!"

Manwell considers himself to be in an "open" stance of accepting that there are easier ways than conventional methods to accelerate this learning process. According to Manwell, "MTM gives people empowerment to say they are amazing, they are extraordinary and to know we are capable of many wondrous things!!!"
