Piret Peebo

Piret earned a degree in Law from Tartu University, but her heart has always belonged to sports. She discovered tennis at the age of 18, “thanks to Björn Borg!”.  In 1989 she assumed the position of Chairwoman at the Pärnu Tennis Club, and the following year gave her first tennis lessons. From 1994-2001 Piret worked as a Coach at the Pärnu Tennis School, then she switched from tennis to floorball (a type of floor hockey, an indoor team sport which was developed in the 1970s in Sweden and popular in countries such as the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland), receiving a coaching license and coaching that sport for almost 10 years.

When tennis courts were built in Sindi (a tiny town nearby the Estonian “summer capital“ of Pärnu) in 2007,  Piret was offered a job overseeing the facility, which prompted her return to tennis.  She now conducts a training group for local children in addition to giving lessons to adults.

Piret discovered Oscar Wegner`s name a couple of years ago and bought his “black book“ together with his DVDs.  Says Piret,  “I´ve struggled with my forehand and serve for as long as I can remember, and only after studying those DVDs did I start to have a clue! It`s getting better all the time! And, Wegner`s method works well with students, especially beginners, of course (they don`t have to break old habits)!
